Contest Rules

A. PURPOSE

To provide recognition to that Lioness who most distinguishes herself as an active and contributing member of the Lioness of District 4-C1.

B. NOMINATIONS

  1. Names and qualifications of the nominee shall be submitted to the Club's Board of Directors and once approved, forwarded to the Lioness of 4-C1 Awards Chairman and to the Secretary of Lioness of 4-C1.
  2. Entries must be postmarked on or prior to April 1st, prior to the District Convention.

C. ELIGIBILITY

Candidate must meet the following basic qualifications:

  1. Must be a member in good standing of a Lioness Club in District 4-C1 for at least six (6) months.
  2. Must be current in her Club obligations of attendance, dues, and committee assignments.
  3. Must not be a president or immediate past president of the Lioness of 4-C1.

D. JUDGING

  1. Judging for Lioness of the Year shall be by the Awards Chairman and an impartial panel of judges of her choice.
  2. Judges shall not inform any outside parties of their selection prior to the official announcement at the District Convention.
  3. Names of runners-up and their relative standings will not be released.
  4. All accomplishments considered by the judges MUST have taken place during the current fiscal year. An accumulation of accomplishments in prior years or over a great number of years WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.
  5. The panel shall have wide latitude in the selection of criteria with which to measure the candidates, but shall take into account the following factors when making determinations:

Attendance record, membership awards, other Lioness awards, membership development, meeting participation, program participation, committee participation, her activities, leadership, office, quality of work, ability to communicate ideas, organizational abilities, co-operation with fellow Lioness, dependability, sincerity of purpose, attitude, and such other performances and/or activities that may be considered in the furtherance of Lionism.

It shall be left up to the panel to assign appropriate weights and select a winner based upon overall excellence, rather than making a selection by using a rigid point system.
